Research Smart
-
ResearchSmart was developed as a configurable clinical research platform designed to support universities, research institutions, and commercial sponsors in running structured, compliant studies. The vision was to create a modular system that could be white-labelled and deployed across multiple organisations, enabling consistent study execution, participant management, and controlled data capture within regulated environments.
-
Clinical research infrastructure is often fragmented, overly complex, or built for enterprise-scale pharmaceutical sponsors only. Universities, emerging biotech companies, and medical device innovators frequently lack access to configurable, affordable, and governance-driven digital systems to run structured studies.
There was a clear need for a platform that could balance accessibility with regulatory rigor — supporting both academic and commercial research environments.
-
ResearchSmart was architected as a modular, protocol-driven platform capable of supporting study configuration, participant workflows, data capture, and oversight within a unified framework.
The system was intentionally designed for white-label deployment, allowing organisations to operate under their own brand while maintaining consistent structural governance and operational control.
-
The platform prioritised:
• Clear protocol-to-execution alignment
• Structured participant progression and consent controls
• Configurable study workflows adaptable to different research contexts
• Controlled data capture with system-level traceability
• Scalability for academic, biotech, and medical device use casesDesign decisions were guided by regulatory awareness, operational practicality, and the need for long-term adaptability across research ecosystems.

Research Smart Platform Features
Beyond core software functionality, ResearchSmart integrates research tools, recruitment pathways, funding models, and governance layers into a cohesive digital framework. These features reflect the platform’s role as a coordinated research infrastructure.
Research Marketplace
The marketplace connects researchers, sponsors, and participants in one shared environment. It enables study discovery, recruitment, and collaboration in a structured way.
Outcome and Reflection
ResearchSmart was developed and deployed as a fully operational clinical research platform, supporting multiple live studies across structured digital workflows.
The system is now positioned as a white-label infrastructure solution, continuously evolving to support compliant clinical trial execution across academic and commercial environments.
ResearchSmart reflects my work on a complex web application built specifically for clinical research operations. I defined the product structure, study logic, and multi-role workflows across both the administrative web platform and participant mobile app.
